Sickle Sword

weapon (melee)

The Sappara, or Sickle Sword is long blade of the ancient Mesopotamian world. It was originally based upon the crescent axe, most likely taken up as an improvised weapon after the haft broke off. Molten copper is poured into clay molds, and then allowed to cool. Flashing is then removed and the edge hammered and sharpened.

It is an exclusively slashing weapon, though the hooked end can be used to disarm a shield.

The picture to the right shows a Sumerian Sickle Sword inlayed with electrum.
